Things To Do & Put-in-Bay Island Attractions

Exploring Put-in-Bay Ohio By Golf Cart

Just under an hour west of Cleveland, Ohio, you’ll find one of the most unique places in the United States. Hop on the Miller Ferry from Port Clinton or Jet Express from Sandusky and glide across Lake Erie for about 20 minutes, and you’ll find yourself on South Bass Island, home to Put-in-Bay Ohio! One of the first things you’ll notice is the roads. Right alongside the regular passenger vehicles you’ll see on mainland roads, you’ll find golf carts! A Put-in-Bay golf cart rental is the best way to experience everything that Put-in-Bay, crown jewel of the Lake Erie Islands, has to offer.

Put-in-Bay Attractions For Everyone

We cram a lot of incredible things to do onto our little island. The first stop for most people should be our most visible attraction, Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial, affectionately referred to as the monument. This massive Doric column commemorating American, British and Canadian soldiers who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812, is the fifth tallest memorial structure in America, and dominates the downtown Put-in-Bay landscape. The sightseeing from the observation deck is an essential part of a visit to Put-in-Bay.

Then we have not one, but two caves that are can’t-miss. Perry’s Cave takes you five stories below the surface, where you can see an amazing and rare underground lake, connected by some as-of-yet undiscovered channel to the surrounding waters of Lake Erie. Perry’s Cave Family Fun Center is also home to the Butterfly House, home to hundreds of unique butterfly species, Fort Amaze’n and the Antique Car Museum. Right across the street, the Crystal Cave is the world’s largest geode!

Take Your Put-in-Bay Golf Cart All Over South Bass Island

Put-in-Bay is an island getaway that has something for everyone. It’s not just downtown Put-in-Bay that draws crowds from all over the Midwest. Kayak and jetski on beautiful Lake Erie and have a round of golf at Saunders Golf Course. Get an ice cream cone and climb a rock wall. Take flight with a helicopter or biplane ride from the Put-in-Bay Airport. Enjoy some wine at the Put-in-Bay Winery or Heineman’s Winery (or both!) and see beautiful sunsets over the water at South Bass Island State Park!

And we haven’t even gotten to all of the amazing Put-in-Bay restaurants and bars. There’s a reason that the Put-in-Bay hotels are booked solid every summer weekend; that DeRivera Park, the Chocolate Museum, and the Boardwalk are always packed with visitors; the Gemstone mining, mini golf, parasailing and putt-putt filled with kids and parents. All of this can be enjoyed on our island that’s only a few square miles in size. We told you, we really cram it in! So hop into your Put-in-Bay golf cart rental and explore the Key West of the Midwest in style!
